Meow You Doin'? - Kitty Collab with Kari

Hey friends! Today I'm super excited to be doing a special collaboration with my dear friend Kari of KWCardDesign on YouTube! We're both making cards featuring the adorable Lawn Fawn Meow You Doin'? stamp set, as well as the Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6x6 pad.

Ever since I saw the sneak peeks for Bicycle Built for You, I knew I wanted to take the small cat image and pair it with the kitties from Meow You Doin'? to make him look like a kitten. I think it totally works, don't you?

I colored my images with Copic markers and created a soft background using the MFT English Brick Stencil and some Distress Inks. All supplies are listed and linked in the description bar below the video on YouTube.

Click the YouTube icon at the bottom right corner to watch it there in HD and please don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe! It really helps out, and I love reading your thoughts.

When you're done, you can check out Kari's video by clicking the link here or in the description bar over on YouTube. Her card is a surprise even to me, and I can't wait to see what she came up with!

Isn't it fun to see what unique designs people come up with using the same products? I always find it fascinating and I hope that you will too. Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Ahoy Matey + Friday Feature at BRI

Hey friends, I'm back with my second post of the day! For my Lawn Fawnatics Feature click here. Today happens to be a Double Feature Friday, as I'm also up on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog with a fun pirate-themed card using the new Neat & Tangled Yo Ho Ho stamp set.

When I was a little girl, I was obsessed with the movie and TV series Treasure Island, so this set is full blown nostalgia for me. I ended up creating two cards, so I'm featuring the boy on my blog, and the girl version over at BRI.

These Pretty Pink Posh Clear Droplets ended up being the perfect accent for both cards. They look like little splashes of water, so they work great even for masculine cards. It's not easy to find embellishments that work well for both, but these definitely do.

I finished off the insides of the cards with some additional stamping and the leftover colored and die cut images.

For links to all the other supplies, please head over to the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog and check out my feature. Here's a sneak peek of how the other card turned out. I can't decide which is my favorite!

Do you struggle with using patterned paper on your cards? In today's video tutorial, I go over a few tips on how to pull in different prints and also how to use the colors to inspire your coloring. I hope you enjoy it!

Introducing Lawn Fawnatics!

Woohoo! Today is an exciting day! I finally get to let out this wonderful secret I've been teasing you all with on social media! Today I get to reveal that Lawn Fawn is starting their very own challenge blog, Lawn Fawnatics

I'm so thrilled and honored to be a part of the amazing design team, and today we're kicking off our first challenge! Since this month marks Lawn Fawn's 7th Birthday, we just had to go with a Happy Birthday theme.

I have hardly been able to contain myself with excitement, so I thought a Pop-Up Box Card would be the perfect project to make. It literally explodes with fun the second you open it. It's the card equivalent of a surprise party!

The best kind of party is one where all your friends are invited, new and old, so I combined as many stamp sets as I possibly could. I used Jump For JoyCheery ChristmasCritters In The ForestCritters In The 'BurbsParty AnimalYear Two, and Year Four. Whew!

Of course, I also used the Scalloped Box Card Pop-Up  die, the Grassy Border, and pulled in a sentiment from Elphie Selfie. The Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6x6 paper pad added in an extra splash of color.

For the front and side panels, since I wanted that fun and festive color on there as well, I just cut the patterned paper to mat the die cut rectangles.

I've made these pop-up box cards before, and let me tell you, the die makes it so much easier! No more measuring! The die takes all the guess work out of the equation. It makes it so easy, in fact, that I made TWO cards! Since I didn't catch the first one on camera, I decided to create a second so I could walk you through the steps.

For my second card, I wanted a whole new scene, so I used Elphie SelfieHang In ThereParty Animal, and Year Four, along with the same dies and patterned paper. I wanted to show you how versatile this Pop-Up Box Card is, so this one is just a bit simpler but just as cute! You really can decorate it as much or as little as you like.

1 Set 4 Ways Episode 2: Sunday Stroll

Hey friends! Today I'm bringing you a brand-new series on my blog and YouTube channel. It's called 1 Set 4 Ways, and it's as simple as the name implies! I'll be taking images from just one stamp set and creating four cards, each unique, but cohesive enough to work as a set, by using similar supplies to tie them all together. I'm considering making this a monthly series, so I hope you guys are really going to like it! :)

I'm calling this one Episode 2, because I did this once before a few months back with the Avery Elle Woodland Wonders set. At the time, I was just trying to use up images I'd colored during The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge, so I thought it was just going to be a one-time thing. But I found myself in the same position again with lots of colored images just sitting in a bowl on my desk, and I liked how the first video had forced me to use up a whole bunch of them at once. So the idea for a series was born!

This episode features Mama Elephant's Sunday Stroll, a set that's filled with an adorable family and whole bunch of pets and bugs and little scene setters, which makes it perfect for this challenge. The possibilities are endless! On my first card, I didn't even use any of the people, creating a family of ducks instead.

The only thing the Sunday Stroll set is missing is sentiments, so I pulled those in from three other Mama Elephant sets, Sunday SentimentsCross My Heart, and In My Heart to suit each scene I was creating.

I used one sentiment on the outside of each card, and an additional sentiment on the inside of each card, along with some cute little images. I've just started finishing off the insides of my cards this year, and I find it really adds something extra special!

All other supplies used are listed and linked in the description bar below the video on YouTube. To watch it there in HD, simply click on the YouTube icon at the bottom right corner of the video. Please let me know what you guys think of this new series! And if you have any suggestions for a stamp that I should feature next month, I'd love to hear your ideas! Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a great day!

Elphie Selfie with Friends

Who says animals can't take selfies? The minute I got saw this super clever Elphie Selfie set from Lawn Fawn I knew I had to have it. It just makes me smile so big, and isn't that the best kind of card to make and send out? The kind that you just KNOW is going to make someone's day?

Of course, the more friends that crowd in, the more fun the selfie is to take, am I right? I was actually inspired by the PBS show Spy In The Wild to add in a tortoise from Year Two and my attempt at an egret from A Birdie Told Me along with my elephants and mouse. I colored my images with Copic markers and cut them out with the matching dies.

To create my scene I started with a light blue panel die cut with the largest Small Stitched Rectangles and added two layers of tall grass cut with the Meadow Borders. I grouped my animals together and finished the scene with two clouds from the Spring Showers dies. I layered the scene over some pretty paper from the Perfectly Plaid 6x6  die cut with the Scalloped Rectangle Stackables. I also did some fun stamping on the inside with Merman ink, but I'll save that for the video.
