Embossing adds such a nice touch to your projects!

A little gloss, a little shine, bold, solid lines...

But it's not something I take the time to do very often.

So I was glad for this challenge, because it pushed me

to break out my embossing powder and heat tool

and try a new technique for me: watercoloring.

My husband bought me some Derwent Inktense pencils

for Valentine's Day because I'd been pining over them,

but after I got them, I just never seemed to have the 

opportunity to break them out and give them a whirl.

Embossing works great with watercoloring because it keeps

 the paint in little separate pools so they don't get muddied.

Derwent Inktense pencils are different from other colored pencils

in that they are actually ink in pencil form, rather than paint.

So though they work like regular colored pencils, they're different

in that the resulting pigmentation of the "paint" is much more intense.

Hence the name: Inktense. :o)

I did realize, after some trial and error, that the pencil pigment

needs a lot of space to break up and move around.

Because of the small areas of leaves and flowers in 

Lawn Fawn's Flutter By stamp set, I ended up scribbling

little squares of color on the unstamped area of my

watercolor paper and using it as a palette, wetting it and 

painting in the ink with a fine-tipped brush.
