Birthday Boy Mouse

Hey friends! Happy Memorial Day to those of you in the States. Today I wanted to share a cute card I made using adorable Hello Bluebird stamps. One of my favorite Hello Bluebird images is the sweet little mouse from Joyful Mouse. It's actually a Christmas set, but I thought this guy would be perfect on a birthday card.

Of course, he needed some friends, so I stamped the birds and party hat from Pig Day and added in the balloon from Greetings Bear. I colored them all with Copics and trimmed them out with the matching dies.

I pulled my color palette from the Echo Park Happy Birthday Boy 6x6 pad, then cut down all the patterns I wanted to use. Starting with the cupcake print, I die cut that with Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables, then used the Stitched Party Banners to give the blue piece that decorative fishtail edge. For the focal panel I used the Stitched Circle Stackables, and edged it with a Scalloped Circle Stackable in red.

In the video, I share tips on how I pull my patterned papers together and layer them on a card. Click the YouTube icon at the bottom right to watch it there in HD, and don't forget to like and subscribe! It really means a lot.

By the way, I switched up my photo background and props. What do you think? Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Christy Gets Crafty with My Favorite Things - May

Hello friends, it's time for the May edition of Christy Gets Crafty with My Favorite Things! This month I absolutely fell in love with sassy flamingos from Let's Flamingle. There were so many great images and sentiments, that I couldn't create just one card. I ended up making four.

I colored all four flamingos in with Copics and die cut them with the matching Let's Flamingle Die-namics. Then I die cut four focal panels with the outside frame of the Scallop Cross-Stitch Tag and sponged on a gradient of Distress inks from the bottom left corner.

When that was dry, I gold heat embossed a few images from Pressed Flowers to add a little background and depth to my scene. I found some black two-toned ribbon with a gold thread in the center and tied that onto each tag.

For my card base, I used Razzle Berry Cardstock scored and folded to a standard-sized card. Over that, I layered a piece of Pink Lemonade trimmed down with the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2. Then I popped my focal panel up with foam tape.

To finish off the cards, I gold heat embossed my sentiments on Black Licorice cardstock, and added a sprinkle of 6mm Metallic Gold Sequins to pull all my gold accents together.

Visit MFT's YouTube Channel to watch the entire card set come together or click on the video below. Use the YouTube icon at the bottom right corner to watch it there in HD and don't forget to hit that like button! And leave me a comment if you enjoyed the video. I love to read your feedback.

Nautical Father's Day - Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #29

Hey friends! It's Christy here with a nautical-themed Father's Day card for Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #29! This time we've got a gorgeous inspiration board that is sure to get your creative juices flowing!

One of my favorite images for masculine cards is the lighthouse, especially for dads, who are a beacon of wisdom and love. So I decided to create my card using Life Is Good and Dad + Me. I colored my images with Copics and trimmed them out with the matching dies. Then I used Ocean Wave Borders to cut down some Mermaid and Blue Jay cardstock to set the scene.

I die cut the entire panel with the Large Stitched Scalloped Ovals and created a mat as well with white cardstock, then added the whole thing on top of some Really Rainbow 6x6 paper. To finish things off, I added a dab of Crystal Stickles to the light inside the lighthouse.

Owl Mama - Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #28

Hey friends, today I'm sharing a sweet Mother's Day card for our current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge. This time we're doing one of my favorite type of challenges -- the card sketch!

For my card, I colored in my owls and tree stump from Mom + Me with Copic markers, and die cut them with the matching dies. Then I created a background scene with some pale blue cardstock and a Stitched Hillside Border in green.

I trimmed down my Perfectly Plaid Spring patterned papers with the Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables, allowing a bit of the Ballet Slippers cardstock to show through, and cut a window out of it with the Circle Stackables. I created a halo effect by die cutting a ring of Really Rainbow patterned paper, and layering it on the inside of the window, bringing extra attention to the image. Then I popped up that whole panel with foam tape.

To finish things up I added an Everyday Sentiments Banner greeting and a few Studio Katia Iridescent Crystals scattered across.
