Art Journal Flip Through for 2023 - Saying Goodbye

Art Journal with Me #24 - Be Present, Make It Count

Hey friends, today I'm bringing you my last Art Journal with Me video of 2023. This time I went for a Christmas theme in my Square Art Journal, using some Stamperia Rice Paper featuring some sweet little birds with holly boughs and pine sprigs. I love birds and these are really darling. I just love their ruby red bellies.

I also used some Washi tape, Postage Stamp stickers, and other bits of Ephemera to create a collage look that I love. For my personal item, I included some of the wrapping from a Blind Date with a Book that I purchased on a recent trip to Maryland for a family Christmas get together. I added a few strips from the Tim Holtz Ideology Small Talk Stickers for my title, and brought in color using Stabilo Woody 3in1 Pencil Crayons and a little Inka Gold on the edges.

Art Journal with Me #23 - Great Things Take Time

Hey friends, today I'm squeaking in my November Art Journal with Me video before the month is over! This month I brought back the technique of using paper napkins as the focal images in my Square Watercolor Journal. Aren't those owls so sweet? I combined them with a bit of patterned paper from the Stamperia Garden of Promises 8x8 pad, which had a very similar color palette. I thought the two worked really well together.

If course, I also added layers and texture to my spread with washi tape and other bits of vintage ephemera like tags and tickets. For my personal items, I included a tear off ticket stub from a basket raffle I attended with my step mom this month, and also a receipt from purchasing an old typewriter at a thrift store. It's always nice to add those little personal touches.

Art Journal with Me #22 - Keep an Open Heart

Hey friends, today I'm back with my October Art Journal with Me video. This month in my Square Watercolor Journal I went with a bit of a spooky season theme, using lots of mushroom washi stickers and some patterned paper from the Stamperia Forest 8x8 pad.

I also included some Washi Tape and other bits of Junk Journal Pages and Ephemera to build up the layers and scraps of a newspaper from the town where my family has our reunion every fall for that personal touch. Then I brought in Stabilio Woody 3 in 1 pencil crayons for some added color.

Art Journal with Me #21 - Go Where the Heart Takes You

Hey friends, today I'm excited to bring you my September Art Journal with Me video with a bookish theme that I adore! Last weekend was my birthday and I spent the day in Pittsburgh visiting the Carnegie Main Branch Library plus six different bookstores and it was the best! So this month's spread is definitely inspired by that. I started out in my favorite Square Watercolor Journal and pulled in patterned paper from the Stamperia Vintage Library collection.

I love lots of layers, so I also included Washi Tape Tickets, Vintage Postage Stamp Stickers, and even Vintage Book Pages from Alice in Wonderland. And for my personal item, I tore the whale logo from a paper bag from one of the book stores, and also included the number 9, for the ninth month, which is when my birthday falls. I also created a little door that opens and leads into a story world, which do by reading every single day.

Art Journal with Me #20 - Let Life Surprise You

Hey friends, I'm squeezing under the wire on the last day of the month to bring you my August Art Journal with Me video. This spread is completely inspired by my recent trip to Germany, where I collected so much ephemera from my travels that I actually created a hidden pocket within my spread to keep it all. All this was done in my favorite Square Watercolor Journal, which is such a great size to work in.

The star of this spread is the gorgeous patterned papers from the Stamperia Magic Forest 8x8 pad, which worked perfectly for this theme, as I visited the alps and a few castles along the way. I popped in a few photos into the video here and there where I could as I chatted about the journey. I also brought in some Iridescent Gelatos, Starry Colors, and even some Fairy Dust Stencil Paste for a bit of glimmer.

Art Journal with Me #19 - You are a Work of Art

Hey friends, it's time for another Art Journal with Me video! Today's spread was inspired by a short story that I wrote recently, incorporating a few of the same motifs. As always, I did it in my Square Watercolor Journal, which I really love the size of and the weight and thickness of the watercolor paper. I added little bits of ephemera like washi tape, ticket stickers, and vintage papers.

The two stars of the show were the phonograph, which I cut from the Stamperia Lady Vagabond Lifestyle 6x6 paper pad and the birds, which I added using the Tim Holtz Ideology Aviary Collage Paper and some Clear Gesso. I also embellished the edges with Inka Gold and finished with a title using Tim Holtz Ideology Small Talk Stickers.

Art Journal with Me #18 - See Possibility Everywhere

Hey friends, today I'm here with my June Art Journal with Me video. This month I used some patterned papers from the Prima The Plant Department Collection. I chose the doorway as my focal image to symbolize the new phase of life I find myself in, with my youngest child having graduated from High School earlier this month. I created the spread in my Square Art Journal, which I love. It's such a nice size to work in!

To create the collage look I love, I also added in some washi tape, tickets, and other bits of vintage ephemera. For my personal item this month, I included a quote torn from an extra copy of the program from my son's graduation. I added color with Iridescent Gelatos, texture with Stencil Paste and a Brick Stencil, and the title using Tim Holtz Ideology Small Talk Stickers. As always, I finished up the spread with my Retro Date Stamp.

Art Journal with Me #17 - I'm Happiest When I'm With You

Hey friends, it's that time of the month again! I've got another Art Journal with Me video. For May I'm talking all about my Mother's Day trip to Letchworth State Park, and using a map of the park to add some interest to the spread in my art journal. I combined that with some scenic rice paper, and patterned paper from the Stamperia Azulejos de Sueño 8x8 pad.

I also added in lots of washi tape, postage stamp stickers, and other bits of ephemera. Then I gave it a boost of color using the Stabilo Woody 3-in-1 Pencil Crayons, and a splash of gold with the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors. I finished with Tim Holtz Ideology Small Talk Stickers for my title, and of course, a Retro Date Stamp.

Art Journal with Me #16 - Be Your Beautiful Self

Hey friends, today I've got my April Art Journal with Me video. You can tell from this spread that I am so ready for all the plants and trees to start blossoming! We aren't there yet here, but I'm hopeful that we'll start to see more evidence of Spring in the next couple weeks. I created this spread in my art journal using some patterned paper from the Stamperia Hortensia Collection.

For my personal item this month, I included some stamps from letters from friends. I combined those with other washi tape, tickets, stamps, and ephemera for a lovely collage. Then I added in extra color using the Faber-Castell Iridescent Gelatos, and of course, finished with a Retro Date Stamp.

Art Journal with Me #15 - Own Your Dreams

Hey friends, today I'm excited to bring you my March Art Journal with Me video. This time I went with a fox theme in honor of my recent visit to Old Fox Books and Coffeehouse in Annapolis, MD. I was down in that area for my Grandma's 90th birthday party, so I just couldn't resist making an extra stop to check out this amazing bookstore! I'm chatting about all that and more in the video, so make sure to grab a snack and hang out with me!

As far as the supplies, I used some patterned paper from the Stamperia Forest 8x8 pad in my art journal, along with lots of different ephemera including washi tape, tickets, postage stamp stickers, and other junk journal supplies. I also included parking ticket receipts, and even part of a shopping bag from the store.

Art Journal with Me #14 - Follow Your Heart

Hey friends! Today I'm back with my February Art Journal with Me Video! This one was completely inspired by my recent cruise vacation to the Caribbean. I had such a lovely time away with my family and very much enjoyed the much needed break from work and snow! I incorporated several bits of ephemera from my travels into my Art Journal to really give it that personal touch.

Some of the craft supplies I incorporated were patterned papers from the Mintay Seaside Escape 6x6, along with Washi Tapes and other Junk Journal papers for that collage look that I love. I also created a little window opening with a view of those stunning Caribbean waters that I love so dearly. I finished up with a Retro Date Stamp and some Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers for my title.

Art Journal with Me #13 - Shine Like the Universe is Yours

Hey friends, today I'm here with the first Art Journal with Me video of 2023! After starting in January of 2022, I've now completed an entire year of art journaling and I still love it! It's such a freeing art style. For this spread, I'm taking you out of this world, with a bit of a space theme using the Stamperia Cosmos 8x8 pad in my Square Watercolor Journal.

I also used a bunch of different ephemera, including washi tape, washi tape tickets, and various junk journal supplies to build up the layers and add texture. I used the Lawn Fawn Nighttime Stencil to add some stars with Gold Stencil Paste, and the Faber Castell Iridescent Gelatos to bring some color. And of course I used my Tim Holtz Ideology Small Talk stickers for the title.

Art Journal with Me #12 - Love Yourself First

Hey friends! Today I'm bringing you my December Art Journal with Me video. This one is definitely festive and fun for the season. I've now completed an entire year of spreads and I've had the best time doing it! For this month in my Art Journal, I used some papers from Stamperia Home for the Holidays as the star of the show, with the sweet little deer in a snowy field framed in my gorgeous red florals.

I also added in a mix of washi tape, tickets, and ephemera to build up the layers. For my personal item this month, I cut a few more florals out of the roll of wrapping paper I bought for my Christmas gifts this year. That will be a nice memory to look back on from the holidays! Of course, I added some titles using Tim Holtz Ideology Small Talk Stickers and finished up with some Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White splashes and a Retro Date Stamp.

Art Journal with Me #11 - Tell Your Story

Hey friends, today I'm slipping in under the wire with my November Art Journal with Me spread. This month was inspired by a recent day of antique shopping and my love of vintage writing supplies. I started out in my Square Art Journal with some layers of washi tape, washi stickers, tickets, and even bits of ephemera like the receipts from the antique stores.

For the main focal images, I used a few pieces of patterned paper from the Mintay Written Memories 6x6 pad. I cut out a gorgeous typewriter, books, papers, ink bottles, and more. I collaged all of my elements, using white gesso to bring it all together and clear gesso to seal it all in. For the titles, I used Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers, and of course added the date with my Retro Date Stamp.

For the crafty chat, I'm talking about my lifelong passion of writing, why I gave it all up, and where I'm going from here. Art Journal with Me #10 - Dreams Create the Future

Hello and welcome to my October Art Journal with Me Video! This month I was a hundred percent inspired by my recent trip to Portland, Oregon and the Pacific Northwest Coast with my hubby for our 22nd wedding anniversary. I collected various bits of ephemera from our travels, which I incorporated into this spread in my Art Journal. I even included a magazine page featuring Haystack Rock, one of the highlights of our stay.

I also used some Stamperia Forest 8x8 paper, washi tape, and stickers, and sealed it all with Clear Gesso. Then added color using a combination of Faber-Castell Iridescent Gelatos and Stabilo Woody 3-in-1 Pencil Crayons. To finish things off I added some Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers as a title, and some white splashes using Dr Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White ink.

Art Journal with Me #9 - You Are Enough

Hey friends! Welcome to my September Art Journal with Me video! This month was really fun for me since it's my birth month so I had lots of fun things to chat about while I created this spread. I started with some papers from the Stamperia Forest 8x8, which was the very first paper pad I bought with art journaling in mind, back in December of last year. I've saved it for a special occasion because it features my favorite animal, the red squirrel. I was so happy to finally use it in my Art Journal.

I also included a bunch of different washi tapes, ephemera, and stickers, as well as a bookmark from one of the shops I visited on my birthday day trip to some bookstores. I brought out my Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens to add some rich color to the borders and my Stabilo Woodys 3-in-1 Pencil Crayons to add some green highlights to the center. Then I rubbed a bit of Inka Gold to the edges for some metallic shine, and splattered some Gansai Tambi Starry Colors. I finished with a Tim Holtz Small Talk title and a Retro Date Stamp.

Art Journal with Me #8 - Replace Fear with Curiosity

Hello friends, and welcome to my August Art Journal with Me video! This spread in my Art Journal features one of my favorite animals, the mighty elephant, using the Stamperia Savana 8x8 pad. I'm also chatting about the year that my husband and I spent in Cameroon, West Africa, sharing lots of little stories about our adventures during our time there, that I hope you will come and join me for!

For this mixed media spread, I also combine tickets, washi tape, stickers, and other bits of ephemera. To add some more vibrant color, I pulled in my Stabilo Woody 3-in-1 Pencil Crayons, and added some Gold Stencil Paste through a Rainy Sky Stencil, to represent my husband's and my song. And I finished up the page with some Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers for my title, and a retro date stamp.
